The Precision Materials Designed and Made for the MakerBot Method

MakerBot Materials for Method are manufactured to exacting diameter and quality specifications of the Method, shipped in a vacuum-sealed metalised polyester bag, quality is preserved right up until opening. The Smart Spool™ of the precision materials provides valuable information including material type, colour, and amount remaining via an RFID chip directly to MakerBot Print (MakerBot's free software that streamlines the 3D printing process for your workflow, allowing you to prepare, manage, print and share your 3D prints).

The MakerBot Method's Dry-Sealed Material Bays form a near-perfect seal to keep material free of damaging humidity. A suite of built-in sensors (temperature, humidity control, material detection, RFID) provides that your material is stored in its optimal environment—a feature previously only available in industrial 3D printers.

Tough Precision PLA

Tough Precision Model Material is a thermoplastic engineered for durable, strong, and dimensionally accurate 3D printed prototypes and fixtures. With up to 2X the impact-strength of ABS and similar tensile and flexural strength properties, MakerBot Tough Material gives you high durability and toughness.

Precision PLA

Poly-lactic acid (PLA) is a biodegradable thermoplastic derived from renewable resources. Safe for the office, this material is non-toxic and easy-to-print with high reliability and dimensional accuracy. MakerBot precision PLA Material is optimiSed with the slicing algorithm in our software to give you the best results and highest quality. Ideal for the early stages of concept modelling and form studies, PLA printed objects will generally have a glossier look and feel.

PVA Precision Support Material

MakerBot’s Precision Dissolving PVA ensures fast and effortless support removal for your most complex prints. PVA filament is a critical material for creating complex parts on a dual extrusion 3D printer.

MakerBot Water-Soluble PVA provides two key benefits:
