3DMakerpro Raven LiDAR 3D Scanner

The 3DMakerpro Raven is a portable handheld LiDAR scanner designed for capturing buildings, rooms, outdoor environments and other large physical spaces. It combines long-range LiDAR measurement, SLAM positioning and integrated colour cameras to produce point clouds, textured models and Gaussian Splatting scenes without requiring a fixed tripod-based scanning setup.

Three Raven editions are available. The standard Raven uses one 12MP colour camera, while the Raven Max uses two 12MP cameras to capture more comprehensive colour information. The Raven Max RTK combines the dual-camera configuration with an RTK positioning system for projects that require scanned data to be connected to real-world geographic coordinates.

All three editions share the core Raven scanning platform, including a 360° × 40° field of view, capture rates of up to 150,000 points per second, a handheld operating design and a removable battery grip providing up to two hours of use.

Large-Area LiDAR Capture

Raven is designed to record large environments more efficiently than short-range object scanners. Its LiDAR system offers an effective scanning radius of up to 50 metres, depending on the reflectivity of the scanned surface, with a total quoted scanning range of 80 to 100 metres.

The 360° horizontal and 40° vertical field of view reduces blind spots while the operator moves through a space. This makes the system suitable for recording rooms, buildings, streets, caves, construction areas and other environments that would be difficult to capture using multiple stationary scans.

  • Up to 50m effective scanning radius
  • 80–100m total scanning range
  • 360° horizontal and 40° vertical field of view
  • Up to 150,000 captured points per second

SLAM-Based Positioning and Alignment

Raven uses SLAM processing to estimate the scanner's position while recording the surrounding environment. Point-cloud, image, inertial and positioning data are combined to help keep successive frames aligned as the operator walks through the scan area.

This mobile workflow reduces the need to reposition a tripod or manually register numerous individual scans. Live information is shown through the integrated 3.9-inch AMOLED display, allowing the operator to monitor coverage and identify areas that may need to be scanned again before leaving the site.

  • Integrated SLAM spatial tracking
  • Real-time scan monitoring
  • 3.9-inch AMOLED touchscreen
  • Handheld operation without a permanent external computer connection

Colour Point Clouds and Visual Reconstruction

The Raven Standard includes one 12MP camera for recording colour and image information alongside the LiDAR data. Raven Max and Raven Max RTK use two 12MP cameras, providing wider and more complete visual coverage for colour point clouds, textured models and Gaussian Splatting workflows.

An optional mounting kit also allows compatible third-party 360 cameras to be attached. This gives visualisation, virtual-tour and digital-twin users the option to record additional panoramic imagery when higher-resolution colour capture is required.

  • One 12MP camera on Raven Standard
  • Dual 12MP cameras on Raven Max and Max RTK
  • 4K colour-image capture
  • Optional Insta360 X4 and X5 camera support

Portable Field Scanning

At approximately 1.1kg, Raven can be carried through indoor and outdoor locations without the equipment footprint normally associated with terrestrial survey scanners. Its removable 12,000mAh battery grip provides up to two hours of scanning and can be exchanged when longer capture sessions are required.

Scan data is processed using 3DMakerpro RayStudio on a compatible Windows workstation. Supported exports include common point-cloud and mesh formats for use in BIM, CAD, surveying, visual-effects, digital-twin and reverse-engineering workflows.

  • Approximately 1.1kg total weight
  • Up to two hours of battery operation
  • Quick-change battery grip
  • LAS, PCD, PLY, OBJ, E57 and XYZ export formats
