3DMakerpro Fox Handheld 3D Scanner
3DMakerpro Fox Handheld 3D Scanner
The 3DMakerpro Fox is a lightweight handheld 3D scanner designed for makers, educators, designers and 3D-printing users who need a straightforward way to turn physical objects into editable digital models. Its near-infrared scanning system captures objects from approximately 40mm to 1,200mm, covering common projects such as figurines, mechanical parts, footwear, sculptures, hands and faces.
With accuracy of up to 0.07mm and a resolution of 0.10mm, Fox provides enough dimensional detail for reverse engineering, replacement-part development, personalised products and direct 3D-printing workflows. The scanner weighs only 210g and works with the free JMStudio software on compatible Windows and macOS computers.
Accurate Scanning for 3D Printing
Fox captures physical geometry with accuracy of up to 0.07mm and a point resolution of 0.10mm. This allows surface shapes, contours and dimensional features to be recorded clearly enough for many FDM and resin 3D-printing applications.
Completed scans can be exported directly as STL files for use in standard slicing software. OBJ, PLY and ASC formats are also supported for modelling, measurement and point-cloud workflows.
- Accuracy: 0.07mm
- Resolution: 0.10mm
- Single capture range: 200 × 100mm
- STL, OBJ, PLY and ASC export formats
Compact and Lightweight Handheld Design
At only 210g, Fox can be moved around an object without placing unnecessary strain on the operator's wrist or arm. Its compact 115 × 70 × 35mm body is suitable for desktop scanning, classroom use and portable capture sessions.
The scanner operates at a working distance of 150–400mm and records up to 10 frames per second. Live distance and tracking indicators in JMStudio help the operator maintain suitable positioning and reduce the risk of incomplete or poorly aligned scans.
- Scanner weight: 210g
- Dimensions: 115 × 70 × 35mm
- Working distance: 150–400mm
- Frame rate: up to 10 fps
Near-Infrared Surface Capture
Fox uses a near-infrared optical system designed to capture the geometry of common everyday materials. It performs particularly well on matte, painted, dark-coloured and low-reflectance surfaces that can be difficult for some entry-level scanners.
This reduces the need to apply scanning spray to many ordinary objects, saving preparation and clean-up time. Highly reflective, transparent or extremely glossy surfaces may still require a temporary scanning spray or surface treatment.
- NIR near-infrared light source
- Suitable for many matte and dark surfaces
- Reduced scanning-spray requirements
- Mono surface-texture capture
Guided JMStudio Scanning Workflow
Fox works with 3DMakerpro's free JMStudio software, which provides live point-cloud previews, tracking information and distance guidance while scanning. The software also supports alignment, mesh generation, hole repair, optimisation and file export.
Calibration information is automatically downloaded when the scanner is connected, reducing the amount of manual setup required before the first scan. Mobile data capture is also supported through compatible Android and iOS devices when Fox is paired with the optional Smart Grip.
- Real-time point-cloud preview
- Live distance and tracking guidance
- Automatic calibration-file recognition
- Optional mobile scanning with Smart Grip
