EINSTAR Rockit — Compact Hybrid-Light 3D Scanner
The EINSTAR Rockit is a compact hybrid-light 3D scanner designed for precision surface capture and reliable data on complex parts. Its crossed 19 × 19 blue-laser grid delivers dense coverage with excellent stability on dark or reflective materials, while its optical path is tuned for deep-hole scanning and detailed reconstruction of recesses or internal geometries. Lightweight and portable, Rockit provides high-resolution results suited to reverse-engineering, automotive, and prototyping workflows.
Crossed-Laser Grid for Surface Adaptability
Rockit’s hybrid optical system projects a 38-line crossed blue-laser pattern for enhanced geometry acquisition on varied surfaces. This dense laser grid ensures consistent tracking and data continuity across low-contrast, black, or reflective materials that typically challenge structured-light scanners.
- 19 × 19 crossed blue-laser array for dense surface capture
- Additional 7-line mode for fine-detail scanning
- IR VCSEL mode for broader coverage or large objects
- Reliable performance on dark, glossy, and metallic surfaces
Deep-Hole and Recessed Feature Scanning
The Rockit’s optical configuration and processing algorithms are tuned to capture data from deep holes, recesses, and narrow cavities. This allows engineers to scan mechanical parts with internal geometries or complex undercuts without losing detail or accuracy.
- Optimised for deep-hole and cavity reconstruction
- Stable tracking in tight or shadowed areas
- Hybrid alignment using geometry, texture, or markers
- Maintains accuracy across varying depths and angles
Performance and Scan Modes
Two primary scan modes balance precision and speed for different project requirements. Laser HD mode delivers sub-millimetre resolution for part inspection or design replication, while IR Rapid mode prioritises throughput for larger scans.
- Laser HD: 0.05 – 10 mm resolution, ~2.8 M pts/s, 100 – 600 mm working range
- IR Rapid: 0.2 – 10 mm resolution, ~1.44 M pts/s, 160 – 1400 mm working range
- Field of View (Laser HD): up to 545 × 620 mm
- Supports global, marker, feature, and texture alignment
Software Workflow and Integration
Rockit operates seamlessly with EXStar for scanning and EXModel for mesh refinement and CAD conversion. Together, they provide an efficient end-to-end workflow from raw scan data to editable 3D models ready for manufacturing or simulation.
- EXStar v1.2 delivers faster processing and improved textures
- EXModel enables mesh-to-CAD surface reconstruction
- Exports to STL, OBJ, PLY, and 3MF formats
- Markerless or hybrid alignment options reduce setup time
