Matter and Form THREE

Next-generation embedded 3D scanner for automation and inspection.

The Matter and Form THREE is a next-generation embedded 3D scanner designed for seamless integration into automation, inspection, and research workflows. Built with onboard processing, open APIs, and flexible connectivity, THREE removes the need for powerful external computers and legacy software. It’s an edge-computing 3D vision system purpose-built for engineers, integrators, and educators who need reliable, high-accuracy scanning within robotic cells, quality-control lines, or development environments.

With autofocus cameras, a DLP projection system, and onboard quad-core processing, THREE captures precise, low-noise 3D data up to 33μm accuracy — all accessible through a web interface or programmable API. From automated inspection and cobot guidance to digital twin creation and R&D, THREE makes 3D scanning scalable and cost-effective across industrial and educational settings.

Built for Integration

Integration Ready 3D Scanner

Matter and Form THREE is built from the ground up for integration. With full RESTful API access, a Python library, and Node.js support, developers can easily embed 3D scanning into custom automation or inspection systems. Communication through WebSockets allows real-time control and monitoring of scan processes. Whether linked to a cobot arm or an IIoT platform, THREE adapts to your workflow without requiring proprietary software or additional hardware.

  • REST API, Python and Node.js SDKs
  • WebSocket communication for live control
  • Fully onboard data processing
  • Tripod and multi-head mounting support

Compact Power, Industrial Capability

At only 709 g, THREE delivers powerful edge computing with a Quad-core 64-bit SoC and integrated GPU. It processes scans onboard in under 15 seconds, producing clean, metrological-grade meshes with colour texture. Connection options include Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or direct hotspot mode for total flexibility in industrial and mobile setups.

Designed to survive demanding environments, THREE’s aluminium housing and factory-calibrated optics ensure consistent, repeatable results with minimal maintenance — ideal for automated inspection, robotics research, or teaching 3D vision fundamentals.

Precision Scanning – Without a High-End PC

Edge Computing 3D Scanner

THREE provides stereo-structured light scanning with focusable 13 MP Sony cameras and an advanced DLP projection system. It achieves precision from 33 μm at 220 mm to 400 μm at 700 mm, with a scanning range up to two square metres. No high-end workstation is needed — THREE runs independently through a browser interface on any device, including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.

  • 33–400 μm accuracy across range
  • 4-second capture / 10–15-second processing
  • OBJ, STL, PLY, GLTF, FBX output formats
  • Automatic alignment and autofocus

Integration, Inspection, and Education

From guiding robot arms to performing inline visual inspections, THREE provides a flexible 3D vision solution for a variety of sectors. Engineers can use the integrated heatmap tools for dimensional review, while educators can demonstrate structured-light scanning and API-driven automation within the same platform. Its open-source ecosystem, with full documentation and developer community, makes it easy to deploy in both commercial and research environments.

  • Programmatic heatmap visualisation
  • Integration-ready software and hardware
  • Open-source libraries and community support
  • Ideal for cobot vision, part inspection, and R&D
