REFLECON® Tarnish 50 is a solvent-based Cyclododecane 3D scanning spray designed for optical measurement and high-accuracy scanning workflows where temporary surface matting is required. The spray creates a thin, consistent white coating that improves scan data capture on reflective, transparent, or low-texture surfaces without permanently affecting the part. After application, the coating gradually sublimates over approximately 5–8 hours, removing the need for manual cleaning after scanning.

Tarnish 50 is suitable for structured light scanners, laser scanners, and metrology applications where clean evaporation is important for productivity or delicate parts. The coating applies evenly at a recommended spray distance of 20–30cm and is compatible with most industrial and engineering materials, although soft PVC and some PU/PUR materials should be tested before use. Its temporary coating behaviour makes it particularly useful for inspection environments where post-cleaning time needs to be minimised.
